“I must be in the front row…”

So, my daughter, Emily gets Connor and I $20 Bulls tickets in the nose bleeds. At half time, a guy with a walkie-talkie taps me on the shoulder and asks if we want to sit courtside? "Sure!" So, off we go to watch the Bulls get pounded in seats with a ticket price of $950 each! "I must be in the front row!"

Eskimo Testimonies

Every now and then, I think back on a visit Jim Quattrocki, Bob Elliott and I made to Alaska’s Seward Peninsula in September, 1994. Eskimo Testimonies is a 7-minute video we produced for Mosaic, the video magazine of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

We spent 12 days touring Eskimo villages like Brevig Mission, Wales and Shishmaref, meeting its people and recording their stories.

I produced it for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America with my good friend Peter Marty as host. Jim Quattrocki directed the on-camera sequences. Jim Parks did the editing.

My Bangladesh

My Bangladesh was shot in the year 2000 in Dumki, Bangladesh while on a visit to Lutheran Healthcare Bangladesh. Stephen Padre, Kevin Jacobson and I worked with a 9-year old boy named Rockibul Hussain. We called him “Rocky” for short. Jim Parks did the editing back in Chicago.

The weather was unbelievably hot, but the people were wonderful. “My Bangladesh” was designed for use in childrens educational settings. This is a personal favorite from my ELCA days.

Click on the above picture to view a story I produced about my friend, travel writer and PBS Travel host Rick Steves.

The story was produced for the Chicago Sunday Evening Club’s 30 Good Minutes program. 30 Good Minutes is an award-winning weekly broadcast on WTTW Channel 11 (PBS Chicago) and in syndication in other U.S. cities.

It features many of America’s great religious thinkers, selected from a broad range of denominations and faith traditions. The program explores topics of faith through short meditations (sermons), documentaries, interviews and commentaries.
