In 1910 over a thousand Protestant missionaries, theologians and church leaders from around the world gathered in Edinburgh, Scotland for an unprecedented World Missionary Conference. Saving the World? chronicles the assumptions and expectations that Protestants carried into the 20th century and highlights some of the major — and unexpected — developments in the hundred years since that meeting in Scotland.

Glory to God Alone: The Life of J.S. Bach
In this video journey we are accompanied by Bach authorities including classical guitarist Christopher Parkening. They guide us through the development, personal crises, challenges, remarkable work output, and the compelling inner motivation of Bach and show why it was so important to the composer that his gifts be used for the glory of God alone.

Opening The Door to Luther with Rick Steves
Open the door to Martin Luther with public television travel host Rick Steves. He takes us to areas of Germany known as Lutherlands. From Eisleben, where Luther was born, to Wittenberg where he taught and preached, and to several other areas, we learn about the tumultuous events of the Reformation and the monk at the center of it all. We see how this Augustinian monk, who most wanted the quiet of a religious life, was thrust into the center of 16th-century world-shaking events.

The Morning Star of Wittenberg: The Life of Kaite Luther
This video documentary provides an intimate look at Katharina von Bora, former nun, 16th Century entrepreneur and wife of Martin Luther, father of the Protestant Reformation. It is an in-depth look at the life of the woman who helped Luther change the course of history. We learn how she coped with incredible demands and survived the continual onslaught of unpredictable developments.

Zamzam: A Missionary Odyssey
A gripping, true story of faith on the high seas from World War II. An old Egyptian liner carrying 144 missionaries, bound for mission work in Africa, was mistakenly shelled and sunk by a Nazi warship off the coast of South Africa. The passengers abandoned ship, and their precarious plight was filmed by two photographers who just happened to be on board. Here is their amazing — and some would insist, miraculous — story.

Lives Of The Apostles Paul And Peter
In these two programs, author and Public Television travel expert Rick Steves takes us on location to explore the lives of two great apostles.

Where Love Lives, Love Grows is a capital campaign video I produced for St. Stephen Martyr Lutheran Church in Canton, Ohio. St. Stephen is a healthy, growing congregation in the Northeastern Ohio Synod, ELCA. St. Stephen is working with Kairos and Associates on a campus development campaign.

With the recent, drastic budget shortfalls and staff reductions at my former employer, the ELCA Churchwide office in Chicago, I found myself reviewing a program we did in 2003 titled: The Story of the ELCA. It is difficult to reconcile the enthusiasim illustrated in this documentary with the recent struggles endured by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

The video features rare footage and interviews with key leaders from the ELCA’s three predecessor church bodies, the Lutheran Church in America, the American Lutheran Church and the Association of Evangelical Lutheran Churches.

Included in the program are portions of interviews with the Rev. James R. Crumley Jr., bishop of the former LCA; Dr. Dorothy Marple, coordinator of the Transition Team for a New Lutheran Church; the Rev. Rev. Robert J. Marshall, LCA president; the Rev. David W. Preus, president of the former ALC; the late Rev. Jacob A. O. Preus, president of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS); and the Rev. John H. Tietjen, president of the LCMS Concordia Seminary, St. Louis.

This is a video I produced for the Florida-Bahamas Synod of the ELCA for their 2010 Synod Assembly through Kairos and Associates. The family and I (minus Emily who is away at college) toured Florida for a week; Naples to Fort Lauderdale, Port St. Lucie to Clearwater. They played while I recorded stories of mission and ministry. I did manage a sunset in Naples and 6 holes of golf in Port St. Lucie! Here are the results.

This is a video I produced as part of a capital campaign to renovate and redesign the church and school campus at Salem Lutheran in Glendale, California. Kairos, a national Christian resource development firm recommended me for the job. During production I stayed at the home of Salem members Bob and Chris Watson. Their daughter Sarah serves as the narrator.

There is a new Lutheran Church in Haiti. The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Haiti is a growing body of believers with 12 congregations scattered across Haiti. The Florida-Bahamas Synod of the ELCA asked me to put this video together for the 2010 Synod Assembly.

It’s not all bad news coming out of Haiti. As workers put on the finishing touches, Pastor Livenson Lauvanus of the Haiti Evangelical Lutheran Church shows off their new office space in Port Au Prince. The new space will provide offices space, guest lodging, a chapel and meeting space. Funding for the rental property was provided through the ELCA.

We spent 12 days touring Eskimo villages like Brevig Mission, Wales and Shishmaref, meeting its people and recording their stories.
